Updates, history, and content from neighbors in and around the Wedge
This year’s Wedge-wide Annual Meeting is right around the corner (April 18th); we’re getting excited for this one. Our Annual Meeting is a chance to meet new neighbors, reconnect with old ones, hear about what we’ve accomplished as a community this past year, develop our organization's leadership, and show ourselves what’s possible when we work together.
Please join us for an info session to learn how you can help make the event a success. No experience necessary, just looking for friendly faces! We'll have food and drink, but bring your drink of choice if you feel inclined.
At the LHENA office in Uptown (2909 Hennepin Ave. on the 2nd floor) -- press the call button and we'll buzz you in.

The City released Minneapolis 2040 yesterday, which is a Comprehensive Plan meant to shape the future growth of Minneapolis. The draft covers topics such as housing, job access, the design of new buildings, environmental sustainability, and how we use our streets.
The draft Comprehensive Plan is made up of policies, action steps, goals, topics, and maps, which can all be found in this interactive website.
The City is currently reaching out to the Minneapolis community to discuss this draft plan and to encourage review and feedback. In addition to upcoming in-person engagement opportunities, you can submit feedback via the 2040 website. The period for public comment closes on July 22nd.
The Minneapolis City Council is considering a street reconstruction project on Hennepin Ave between Douglas Ave and W. Lake St. The Hennepin Ave reconstruction project is currently proposed in the City's Capital Improvement Program for the year 2023.
Public Works is conducting preliminary planning work this year in order to submit an application for federal transportation funding that would help support the project in addition to local funding. Prior to submitting the grant application this summer, Public Works will be seeking community input on the future design of Hennepin Ave.
Public Works will hold an informational Open House meeting to introduce the scope of the Hennepin Ave reconstruction project and discuss the purpose of the initial planning work in 2018. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 6-8pm. The format of this meeting will be an Open House with no formal presentation; please feel free to arrive at any time between the scheduled hours.
