The Wedge neighborhood, a vibrant and eclectic community in the heart of south Minneapolis, is home to hundreds of small businesses and 7,000 people (86% of which are renters from all walks of life). Almost every single business in this neighborhood was impacted by the subsequent events in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, I should also mention the enormous emotional toll it's taken on a community that has experienced a historic uprising right in their own streets.
We are doing all we can to coordinate hundreds of volunteers who have stepped up to help with cleanup efforts, a neighborhood watch system, emergency food distribution to families in need, and anything else that is requested of us within our capacity. Not only that, our organization was in the midst of coordinating a no-strings grant program for our residents impacted by the pandemic. This work still needs to be done.
We are fully aware that systemic change is needed in our society. For now, we are trying to support our Wedge community with immediate needs. You can donate to our organization below.
I hope those of you reading this are safe where you are and doing what you can to lift up your own communities. Help out a neighbor, have tough conversations with your friends and families, ask questions to people with different lived experiences, VOTE (local elections matter), be open-minded, and most importantly please understand and remember why this uprising is happening in the first place.

We exist to provide a structure for neighborhood leadership, offer avenues of participation, promote shared resources, and carry forward a shared vision of our beloved neighborhood. Your donations make that possible. Thank you so much.
