Environmental Committee
Mission: The Environmental Committee strives to improve air, water, soil, and habitat quality through neighborhood and surrounding community engagement.
How we fulfill the mission: The Committee is formatted to receive project ideas from members and support their initiatives. We work together as soundboards for expanding ideas, inspire members to champion and take ownership of their project, and support the directives to accomplish these goals. |

Current Projects:
- Monthly neighborhood clean-up days: During the warmer months, we meet in Mueller Park for supplies and bags and head out in teams to collect trash and tidy up the Wedge. See the calendar for the next scheduled cleanup event!
- Mueller Park Edible Landscape: Volunteers sign up for a 1 week watering shift. Occasional events include planting, potlucks. Sign up to get on the email list!
- Organics Recycling Program: The intent of the program is to provide an organics recycling option for renters of large (5+units) residential buildings, who often do not have access to such services through their building.
- Adopt-A-Drain: Volunteer fifteen minutes, twice a month, for cleaner waterways and healthier communities. Storm drains flow directly to local lakes, rivers, and wetlands, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. Adopt-a-Drain asks residents to adopt a storm drain in their neighborhood and keep it clear of leaves, trash, and other debris to reduce water pollution.
- Adopt-A-Street: If scheduled volunteering seems out of your wheelhouse, considering donating time, when you are able to keeping your street clean! We will provide you with a clean up kit and in return we ask that twice a month you walk your block and help keep things in order.

- Adopt-A-Stop: The Wedge is a relatively transit-dense area of Minneapolis, so it would be nice if we made our area a nicer place to use transit by keeping transit stops and shelters clean!
- Green Guardians MN: We build and activate communities to help keep their lakes and rivers clean and healthy. Activities include Adopting Storm Drains, neighborhood lake & park clean ups and more. With support from a Hennepin Good Steward grant we help neighborhoods around the chain of lakes which is the most visited natural resource in Minnesota with 5.5 million visitors annually.
