LHENA History
Structure
All residents, property owners, and business owners in Lowry Hill East are considered members of LHENA and can take part in official association activities such as board member elections and committee votes. The association is governed by a volunteer board of 11 community members.  A majority of the work occurs in dedicated committees where members brainstorm, design, and execute initiatives. Through a new strategic plan and an investment in community outreach, LHENA is looking to direct its energy and resources more fully out into the community itself, block by block, recruiting a fresh set of new leaders.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors role is to oversee the direction and maintenance of LHENA, its programs, and its funds. The Board is composed of 11 community members, most always neighbors (and sometimes representatives of local businesses) who take an interest in the well-being of the neighborhood. Ten of the seats are 2-year terms, one is 1-year. Each spring, six of the 11 seats are up for re-election. Directors are elected by community vote at the April annual meeting. As a renter or homeowner, you can run for this position. Meet the 2019/20 Board

COMMITTEES
There are currently four active committees under LHENA: Environmental, Social, Finance, and Zoning & Planning. The purpose of committees is to organize our ideas and work together as a neighborhood, to allow room to breathe within our areas of interest. In committees, neighbors consider issues of importance together, plan community events, and kickstart new initiatives. Most committees gather monthly and they are all always free and open to the community. If a neighbor is ready to get busy, committees are ready to receive them. Learn about the four active committees

STAFF
LHENA employs two staff people: Paul Shanafelt as Executive Director, and Scott Melamed as Community Outreach Manager. Contact us with questions, conundrums, ideas, and to get plugged in.
