Of Ongoing Interest: Before September 2024 Lowry Hill East only had 1 unit of a type of affordable housing called 4d Tax Incentive. Essentially how this program works is that the City of Minneapolis gives a property tax break to multifamily property owners who contractually agree to keep some of their units affordable at certain income levels (called preservation). These units are usually available to folks who make 60% to 50% of the Area Median Income. From September 2024 to September 2025 68 new units were preserved! In late 2024 the LHENA Board carried out a massive outreach program to inform property owners about the 4d program, so hopefully by 2026 when new data from the City is available the number of units will be even higher. The Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) operates an emergency relief fund for renters across all of Minneapolis called the Renter Support Fund (RSF). Renters who are struggling to pay bills and make their rent are encouraged to apply, the minimum amount you can receive is $450. LHENA is a partner to the RSF and a set amount of funds are set aside to be given to renters who live in the Wedge. To learn more and apply: Renter Support Fund Applications will be accepted starting in 2025 posted: 11/12/2024 Studio and 1 Bedroom listings in Minneapolis that will accept a Housing Choice Voucher, and may show flexibility with screening: Check them out!
