The Public Safety and Racial Justice subcommittee of the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association (LHENA) is working to increase the peace in Minneapolis. As part of this work, we are hosting a series of public conversations on public safety. On Monday, Nov. 23, at 7-8:30 p.m., Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender (Ward 10) and Mayor Jacob Frey will join us for a Zoom call to talk about public safety. This forum is the second conversation in our series and will focus on public safety perspectives from the city council and the mayor’s office.
Panel: Lisa Bender, Minneapolis City Council President (Ward 10) Jacob Frey, Mayor of Minneapolis Moderators: Pete Boislcair, LHENA Board Member and Eric Ortiz, LHENA Board Member Pose your questions here. Forum Description: Monday's forum with Council President Bender and Mayor Frey will be divided into two 45 minute sections beginning with questions for Council President Bender. Once that interview period is over, the forum will move to Mayor Frey for another 45 minutes. Each speaker will be asked four questions from LHENA for the first 20 minutes of their conversation. For the final 20 minutes of each conversation, the speakers will answer questions from the community. If you would like to ask Council President Bender or Mayor Frey a question about public safety for this LHENA conversation, please leave one below. We will make every effort to ask all of the community questions that we receive but cannot guarantee that all community questions will be asked. We look forward to having you join us for this public safety conversation. LHENA's online conduct policy welcomes discourse and disagreement, but we ask that participants put forward a good faith effort to state their views and the views of others fairly without personal attack, animus or shaming. Focusing on issues rather than people is a good rule of thumb. We also ask that you leave yourself on mute unless called on. If your comments (verbal or written) are in violation of our online policy, a moderator will give you a warning. If your comments continue to violate our online code of conduct, you will be removed from the session. Deliberately unmuting and causing a disruption, cursing, or the use of hate speech will lead to immediate removal.
