On Monday, 11/5, LHENA received a Partnership Award from the City of Minneapolis at the 2018 Green Business Awards. (Article on the project.) What the City had to say:
LHENA's assistance has been instrumental in opening up a new approach on air quality through neighborhood groups and the City of Minneapolis. You helped us bring together public and private partners for the cause of improved air quality by getting rid of the hazardous chemical perc. We want to formally express our gratitude to Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association for your commitment to the health of the people of Minneapolis. Quote from Paul Shanafelt, Executive Director of LHENA, at the event: "LHENA prioritizes and takes tremendous pride in its environmental work. With support from our board of directors and Environmental Committee, we were able to provide financial assistance to one of our community's small local businesses, Osman Cleaners, to help them transition to a safer dry-cleaning process. Minneapolis is now the first City in the nation to be entirely perc-free. This achievement is a shining example of how partnerships between the City and neighborhoods can be effective in creating greener, healthier cities." Do you know what to do if you see someone being harassed, groped, threatened, or disrespected? You have a voice, and you can make a difference.
