Submitting comments to the City:
The City Planning Commission will meet to discuss this 4-story, 10-unit residential project on Monday, June 3 at 4:30pm, in room 317 City Hall, 350 S 5th St. Interested parties are invited to attend and be heard. Planning Department staff will issue a recommendation to the Planning Commission. After hearing from the public, the Planning Commission will make a determination based on required legal findings of fact. If you have questions about the project, please contact the City staff person listed below. If you would like to submit comments, you can make them verbally at the meeting or submit them in writing to: Shanna Sether, Principal City Planner 612-673-2307 [email protected] Submitting comments to LHENA: LHENA is a voice for the community and will issue a letter of Support or Rejection to city government in response to this proposal. To help us inform our decision, please send comments no later than Thursday, May 30th to: Paul Shanafelt, Executive Director [email protected]  Stop by the Wedge Co-op between 11am-2pm for choose-what-you-pay compost that originated with our very own food scraps from the beloved Wedge drop-off site. Compost was developed offsite over time and now we're bringing back the product. 100% of proceeds will go to support the community compost program, started and operated by volunteers of the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association.
This is their very first fundraiser, so come out to show your support: Wedge Co-op south parking lot.  The LHENA board will convene for its monthly meeting this Wednesday, May 15th.  Bernadette Knaeble presents Kari Johnson with the Wedge Project of the Year award. Wedge residents Kari Johnson and Karlee Weinmann had an idea: to conduct large-scale, non-partisan outreach to inform neighbors of the facts about voting. The two applied for funding from LHENA, which was granted. A yard sign campaign followed, volunteers were recruited, doors were knocked, flyers were distributed, and events were tabled. Kari and Karlee helped register dozens of new voters and delivered registrations to the Secretary of State’s office free of charge. Kari also partnered with Jefferson Community School, our neighborhood’s polling site, for an Election Day bake sale which raised over $3,000 for the school. After the election, polling numbers came in for each City neighborhood. Eighty-eight percent of all registered voters in the Wedge cast their ballots, which was one of the highest turnouts in the entire City, and higher than the 49% national turnout.
