The LHENA Community Development Committee recently conducted a neighborhood survey to gather input from Wedge community members regarding the City of Minneapolis' Hennepin Avenue South reconstruction project proposal. Open for public comment between January 12-24, the survey received 76 survey responses and four separate letters from community businesses and organizations; 36% of respondents are business owners. The impact of reconstruction to Hennepin Avenue South inspired diverse opinions about the proposed design and ideas about what will make it successful. A summary of the results and all public comments can be found in the attachments below. Last year, the LHENA Community Development Committee hosted a pop-up engagement event on Hennepin Avenue to gather public feedback. Those comments are also attached below. The City's Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction project team presented plans and conducted community Q&As with our neighborhood on three occasions. The most recent presentation + Q&A on January 12, 2022 can be viewed at the bottom of this post. Hi Neighbors, The LHENA Board of Directors will be convening on Wednesday, January 19th at 6:30 pm via Zoom for its monthly meeting. New Ward 10 Council representative Aisha Chughtai will join us to talk about her first-year priorities and take community questions. As always, these are open to the public and a great way to get see how neighbor leaders conduct business on behalf of the neighborhood. Draft agenda below.
On the evening of January 13, 2022, the Hennepin Avenue S reconstruction project team joined LHENA's Community Development Committee to present updates to the project.
