You can make an impact in your community - Help expand Organics Program
The LHENA Environmental Committee is looking for motivated community members to join our team of volunteers and help expand our community Organics Program. These programs address the lack of organics recycling opportunities in Minneapolis’ most densely populated neighborhoods by providing organics recycling options for renters and condominium owners. In under two years, the Organics Program has gone from being a simple idea among neighbors, to a powerful resource for the larger community. Currently, the program serves nearly 1,000 people, and the number continues to grow. This has all been largely accomplished by the work of neighbors working with neighbors, and LHENA wants to continue to expand these programs so every resident in our community is given the opportunity to recycle organic waste. If you are a self-starter, persistent when faced with challenges, good at follow-through, and interested in reducing the waste we produce as a community, please consider getting in touch and joining our efforts. This volunteer role will consist of about 8-10 hours per month. Stop by the Wedge Table at 6:30pm tonight, meet some neighbors, and play games! This is totally new for us, so whoever shows up gets to pick the games. We'll bring some, but bring whatever you've got that you love. Look for the group in the main area. The LHENA board of directors will convene this Wednesday, January 16th for its monthly board meeting. The public is welcome to attend. See the .pdf below for the agenda.
